Nasarawa State government in conjuction with Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DSAH) Lafia, on Wednesday offered free medical services to cover 50 practicing journalists in Nasarawa State.
Declaring the event open, the chief medical director Dr. Hassan Ikrama, said the exercise was aimed at preventing identify the health status of the practice journalists in Nasarawa State.
His words, “the exercise is to prevent diseases at the early stage before it escalation. Prevention is better than cure. I urged you to go for regular medical checkup 80 per cent of diseases infected on us are as result of negligence.”
The CMD, further stressed that a lot of diseases can be prevented at the early stage just as he said” don’t let diseases stay long before going for treatment.
He assured that DASH would continue to collaborate with media in the state in order to reach out to the public on health matters.
“Know your health status. Once you know your status then you can live a normal life,” Ikrama maintain
Dr. Ikrama however applauded the state government for facilitating the exercise to become a reality.
Responding, the NUJ state council chairman Mrs Juliana Ofoku, commended the state government and DASH for organizing the exercise for media practitioners in the state; adding that the program would go a long way towards improving the living standard of the media practitioners in the state.
