Nasarawa: How armed militias wreaked havoc on Tudu Uku

No fewer than three persons were reportedly killed and over seven houses burnt down by unidentified armed militias in the early hours of Friday, Jan. 25, in Tudu Uku ,Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
It would recalled that recently there were persistent clashes between Egbura and Bassa communities of Toto Local Government that has claimed many lives and properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed. And during the attacks, there was accusation and counter accusation between the Egbura’s and the Bassas erupted.
Also on Jan.9, Maj.Gen.Adeyemi Yekini, the Commander of Operation Wild Stroke in charge of Nasarawa, Benue and Taraba said it had recovered 45 assorted weapons and 701 assorted ammunitions from Bassa militia camp in Zwere, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The Bassas, however, denied the claim.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Area of the state, Mr Nuhu Dauda decried the attack on innocent citizens that led to the killing of three persons and loss of properties worth millions of Naira.
He warned the perpetrators of the evil acts to repent and embrace peace.
According to him, “I have received the report this early morning that Bassa militias attack Tudu Uku in Toto Local Government Area of the state and killed three persons as well as burnt about seven Houses and Vehicles among others. I also received a report that one boy is still missing during the
attacked and the attackers beheaded one person,”
The chairman assured the people of the area of his continued readiness to collaborate with the security agencies to ensure that permanent peace is restored to the area.
