Nasarawa govt embarks on solar boreholes to address water shortage

Nasarawa state government has embarked on a gigantic step towards providing portable drinking water supply to the residents of Akwanga – keffi axis through the sinking of solar boreholes to some communities.
This disclosure was made by the General Manager Nasarawa State Water Board Engineer Abdullahi Umar Angbo, in an interview with newsmen in Lafia, the state capital.
According to him, “Plans are on the way to drill more solar boreholes for communities along Akwanga – Keffi axis. I assured you that plan by the state government have reached advanced stage. I must commend governor Almakura’s administration for accorded topmost premium to water supply in the state since inception of his leadership in the state”.
“For instance over fourty years, the Lafia Water Scheme has not been given the desire attention. Now Governor Tanko Almakura’s Administration came and expanded the Amba water project which supply over 13 million liters to the residents in the metropolis today. Deddere, Toto, Nasarawa, Wamba Towns were absolutely without water supply over 30 years. But today I am proud to tell you that Governor Almakura’s administration has provided water to the communities. Water is flowing everyday”, Angbo said.
He continued, “ The administration of Almakura has committed the sum of N100 million naira in order to make water available for consumption by the citizens in the state. This effort is greatly commendable, that the governor deserves Kudos in the water sector e.t.c”
Speaking extensively on water pipes vandalization by some residents along Akwanga – Keffi axis, the General Manager cautioned perpetrators to desist from the act; adding that the Authority of water board would not relent to descend its wrath on any individual or group caught damaging water facilities in their vicinity.
“We will not allow few individuals to frustrate our effort in providing water to the peoples,” Angbo warned.
