The Nasarawa State governor elect in the recently conducted general elections, Abdullahi Audu Sule, yesterday formally received Certificate of Return from the independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) in Lafia, the state capital, where he solicited the support of those who contested against him.
Presenting the Certificate of Return to the governor elect, the INEC Supervising Commissioner in charge of Nasarawa, Kogi and Kwara, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, congratulated the governor elect and commended the diverse ethic nationality in Nasarawa State for the peaceful exercise right from inception of the primaries that led to the emergence of Sule as governor elect without skirmishes.
Also speaking at the presentation, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Nasarawa State, Othman Ajidagba, who expressed excitement for the peaceful conduct of the elections in the state, said that the peaceful outcome of the election deserves celebration.
“This success calls for celebration. Let me put it on record here that I am very lucky to have conducted the elections throughout the state without rancour”, Ajidagba said.
In his acceptance message, the governor elect, Abdullahi Sule, applauded INEC, security and stakeholders for providing a level playing ground during the exercise, calling on the contestants to join hands with him towards building a better Nasarawa State.
Sule, who maintained that Nasarawa State is for all and pointed out the need for politicians to work collectively for the growth and development of the State, which he said is imperative.
“We must work together as brothers and sisters. We must work in unity for the rapid progress of the state. The future of Nasarawa State lies in the hands of all of us”, Sule added.
