Nasarawa state Deputy Governor, Silas Agara has denied buying the All Progressive Congress (APC) nomination form to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Akwanga, Wamba and Nasarawa-Eggon Federal constituency as alleged.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mallam Musa Omaki, Director General, Silas Ali Agara Campaign Organization and made available to journalists in Lafia yesterday.
According to the press statement “The attention of the Deputy Governor and members of his campaign team was drawn to a publication on Nasarawa Mirror, an online news platform alleging that the Deputy Governor, under the platform of APC, where he earlier got his governorship nomination form, went back and secretly obtain another form to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Akwanga, Wamba and Nasarawa-Eggon constituency.”
The statement added that the author of the said publication alleged further that the Deputy Governor secretly bought the House of Representatives form in the event that if he loses the governorship primaries, he would fall back to contest the House of Representatives primaries.
“This according to the manufacturers of the unfounded and baseless allegations is to serve as an alternative fallback should Agara lose the September 29th governorship primaries.
“The Silas Ali Agara Campaign Organization received with rude shock how fake and ridiculous people can get in order to score cheap political point through undue blackmail.
“We wish to refute this fake insinuation in its entirety as a baseless lie concocted from the figment of the writer’s imagination,” the statement maintained.
The statement further denied the allegation put up by the author of the publication that the information was provided through an aide of the Deputy Governor by proxy and that the campaign organization declined comment on the matter.
The statement continued “It is however laughable to think that the Deputy Governor who is currently ahead of ten other aspirants in popularity and acceptability by the electorates in Nasarawa state will sneak to Abuja to obtain a Reps forms”.
The statement added “We therefore wish to appeal to the general public and indeed supporters of the “We believe project 2019” to disregard this baseless information as it is a cheap blackmail by those already threatened by the soaring popularity of our incoming Governor by the grace of God.”
