The All Progressives Congress (APC) women leaders and their executives from the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State at the weekend endorsed the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Mr. Silas Agara for governor in the upcoming 2019 gubernatorial elections.
The APC women officials who were led by Hajiya Indo Sambo, Acting APC Women Leader in the state during a courtesy call on the Deputy Governor in Lafia, officially endorsed the Deputy Governor.
Sambo opined after careful deliberation among women members of the party in the state, the decision was taken to endorse the Nasarawa state Deputy Governor because of his uncommon goodwill towards diverse people from all walks of life and his humble demeanor.
The women leader added that APC women were particularly impressed with Agara’s embrace of all tribes in the state and his resolve not to discriminate irrespective of religious or tribal belief hence the decision to endorse him to continue to maintain the peace and unity enjoyed in the state.
Her words “A lot of people have spoken about you and we also have studied you to be a man of humility and upright character. We have seen the way Governor Al-Makura and you carry women along and we resolved to stand by you been part of the success recorded by this administration,”
She maintained that all APC women executives from the various local governments in the state will henceforth commence mobilization of voters especially women in grassroots of the state to authenticate their endorsement of the Nasarawa state Deputy Governor’s candidature in the upcoming 2019 general elections.
“We collectively made up our minds and chose you because of your good intentions towards the state if you are elected as governor. Your loyalty to the governor is exemplary. We have no doubt that you will sustain the legacies of your principal if elected, “She said.
Responding, Agara expressed gratitude and joy over the decision of the APC women leaders in the state to endorse him and admitted that the approval of all the women excos in the state proves that the decision to endorse him was a collective one taken in good faith.
“I sincerely appreciate your visit, endorsement and the sense of unity exhibited by all of you especially the women leaders and the assistants. The singular action has opened my eyes to learn and adopt the unity of purpose among party stakeholders,” He said.
He added the endorsement has encouraged him and his campaign team to carry on with their political consultations across the state and expressed hope that their endorsement will be reflected in massive support for his aspiration.
“I am encouraged with their position, show of support, prayers and solidarity. It is something that will go a long way in driving this movement and it will strengthen members of our campaign organization.
“Women are agents of change. What they have said here will be translated not just in their local governments but in all the wards that we have. Our women leaders are known for keeping their words. We pray God gives them the will and enablement to keep their words and drive the process,” He said.
