The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state has cautioned the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state over comments made on the decision of the state government to sale properties belonging to the state.
It added that the party should not allow the desperate maneuver to regain power get into their heads so much that they no longer see anything in the government’s effort to bring socio-economic development to Nasarawa.
State APC chairman, Philip Tattari Shekwo, who made the statement yesterday during a press conference held in Lafia the state capital, added that the aim of selling the properties was to save the state from unnecessary financial burden and outright loss of properties through dilapidation and illegal occupation.
It added that over the years, the properties were left to rot by the previous governments of the PDP in the state, saying “Some of these properties have become rear obsolete and any possible attempt to fix them will only gulp funds running into billions of Naira”.
“Some of these properties were previously leased out by PDP government in the state to some individuals in questionable manners and no objection was raised. The party in the past leased out some of these properties at ridiculous terms that could best be described as outright sale. The properties are no longer viable to the people of the state”, he said.
The chairman however applauded the state Assembly members for their foresight and support for the laudable initiative by governor Al-makura; adding that they have demonstrated as true representatives of the people.
