The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), North Central, has appointed the Parish Priest of St. Sylvester, New Nyanya, Rev. Father Lawrence S. Anyembugu, as its Spiritual Patron.
Speaking while presenting the Certificate to the Priest, at the weekend, NANS President, Aji Abraham said Anyembugu stood out amongst other clergy in the North Central zone.
“Before we came to conclusion on your name, we organized prayer sessions for God to decide the right person for the job. We know that this position requires someone who is highly dedicated and highly Spiritual.
“We thank God that at the end, your name came tops as the right person that is why we are here in your parish to present the certificate to you. We want you to be praying for us and encourage us to carry out our duties.”
Responding, the Clergy said he is passionate about encouraging youths in the country to choose the right path and contribute positively to society.
“We are currently living in trying times. We need each other and also God’s interventions in all areas of our lives. I am happy with the honour given to me by this body. I will always intercede for you and help you grow Spiritually.”
Anyembugu, who said he is the president of his alma-mater, added that unionism was part of him even in the Major Seminary. “The only difference is that the Seminary is a place of prayer, different from University settings where students protest to champion a course.
“I urge you to be good Ambassadors of youths in the country. And as their leaders, you will continue to lead them the right way so that the association will grow in the light of God.”
