As the most important days of the 2019 hajj exercise draws near, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has assured Nigerian pilgrims of adequate plans to provide them with comprehensive healthcare in their various locations.

It said it will provide “Medical Caravan” at Mashaeer during the Hajj days in collaborations with states willing to provide ambulances and personnel.

Head of NAHCON medical team, Dr Ibrahim Kana on Sunday told chief executive officers of states pilgrims’ boards, commissions and agencies that medical personnel have been distributed to states and zones that would depart Makkah for Mina with their pilgrims during the Tradudiyya movement.

Dr. Kana disclosed NAHCON Chairman Abdullahi Mukhtar Mohammed has approved request for drugs, consumables and equipment required for the Caravan system.

The consignment of supplies according to him should arrive the medical store on Monday (today) or Tuesday just as he explained that “Boxes are ready for each of the state and tents as to be agreed,”

Also why reminding the states officials of the need to recruit Environmental Health Officers to monitor the hygienic conditions of their tents, he said “you are expected to create space for them to establish a make-shift clinic within the tents; both Male and female sections. For the larger states like Kano et al, we have the capacity to have even more, so long as the states would provide the needed space.

“The Armed Forces is fully covered. If the tour operators organise themselves into adjoining tents, we are ready for them” he added.

“Similarly, NAHCON’s four new Mercedes Benz built ambulances equipped with Oxygen concentrator and other resuscitative gadgets are ready to be deployed.

“States with new ambulances can be brought into the central ambulance system to serve all pilgrims under a single management system. Toll numbers would be provided in the coming days,” Dr Kana said further.

The authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have announced Saturday, August 10 as the day of Arafat.

Pilgrims in the holy lands in the country are to proceed to Mina on Friday a four to five days period performing the important parts of Hajj exercises.

They include “standing on the plains of Arafat, passing the best part of the night at Muzdalifa and the three to four days of stoning the devil ritual at Jamarat.”
