The Commissioner of Works, Transport and Energy in Yobe State Alhaji Lawal Shettima Ali, has alluded ‘political blackmail’ to the call for him to stand for Governor in the 2019 elections by a group of people in the state, saying it’s just an attempt to injure his “robust relationship” with his boss, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam.
Reacting to the group’s stand in a publication in one of the National dailies yesterday in Damaturu, Shettima Ali said he is satisfied with his position as a Commissioner and member of cabinet in the Gaidam administration.
“The so called endorsement by the group is not only mischievous but disingenuous and a frivolous attempt to distract me from collaborating with my boss on service delivery to people in the state,” he said.
The story, according to him, would not detract his focus and loyalty in executing the reforms currently being implemented in the state by Governor Gaidam’s administration.
The commissioner called on members of the public, especially APC members in the state, to disregard the publication which he said was being sponsored by “political jobbers and speculators”.
He also reaffirmed his unflinching and unaltered support to the political instincts of his boss the governor about who should emerge as the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in the 2019 election.
