Allah says:

“The unbelievers are protectors, one of another: unless ye do this, (protect Each other), there would be tumult and oppression on earth, and great mischief.”[al-Anfaal: 73]

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. All Praise is due to Allah! We praise Him and we seek help from Him. We ask forgiveness from Him. We repent to Him; and we seek refuge in Him from our evils and bad deeds. Anyone who is guided by Allah is indeed guided; and anyone who has been left astray, will find no one to guide him. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah, the Only One without any partner; and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and final messenger to mankind. May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon His last and final Apostle, his Household, his companions and all his followers till the end of time.

To become and remain a Muslim is not by name, physical and cultural appearances, nationality or shear utterances. A genuine Muslim is also not easy to attain by birth or shear claims either. In many instances, Islam is apologetically defined as ‘peace’; what and which peace?

However, the simplest definition of Islam is total submission by conviction based on knowledge to agree and accept to live in accordance to the teachings lived, taught, and bequeathed by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), practiced and spread by his disciples during the first three generations. Thus, a good Muslim is not radicalism of actions, extremism of opinion or simply the belief of sets of religious fundamental and dogma. An average Muslim is the one whose Muslim brothers and neighbours are safe from the mischief of tongue and the evils of his hands. A Muslims is not a terror amongst his people because he is not an illiterate and ignorant of the lofty legacies and teachings of the Prophet of Islam and his Companions. I am referring you back to the origin because the closer matters of belief and ibadat (worship) to the time frames of the Prophet and his Companions, the better and more authentic. This is because there no innovativeness or contemporaneousness of creeds and mode of worship (ibadats) in Islam. What I mean here is the unacceptability of modifications; addition or deductions. However, the only allowance acceptable by Shari’ah for such is pertaining to mu’amalats. Such mu’malat includes but limited to the mode of dressings influenced by climates or civilization provided they fulfill the basic conditions of the Shari’ah. Similarly, the types of foods and drinks, the means of transportations, the houses or the use of technological innovations which add value to our lives, are also allowable. Thus, generalization in despising all modern scientific or technological inventions does not connote to good Islam of someone. That is to say the concept of ‘’boko-haramism’’ is totally against the very teachings of Islam.

The Qur’an since over 1500 years has put to final rest any insinuation against one particular type of education or another as unislamic. Allah says:

“Read In the name of Thy Lord and Cherisher, who created! Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed Blood! Read and Thy Lord is Most Bountiful; He who taught (the use of) the pen; Taught man that which He knew not.”(al-Alaq: 1-5).

There, all types of knowledge are directly from God and that therefore are all useful to man in both worlds. Definitely Allah can not be the source of bad knowledge. That is why Allah gave an open and forceful directive to the Muslims to read anything notwithstanding its apparent sources once the objective is to serve him and the humanity. That means also that it is not the kind of knowledge that is most important but how it is put into use. If you learn the Qur’an and the outcome is to harm people with its power, then such outcome of the knowledge is injurious, and so useless! Whereas when you learn chemistry or medicine with the aim of helping solve problems emanating from lack of such knowledge, then such is not only lofty but worthy efforts.

Based on this premise, one is bound to ask one pertinent question; why then people with such scriptural decree to seek for any type of knowledge allow themselves to be sunk and dashed into the lowest abysmal of ignorance and illiteracy? How can anyone with baseless and unfounded prejudice to knowledeg be tolerated in his community? Such and many other questions are inexhaustible, no doubt.

Consequently, any society that is discriminatory to some types of knowledge based on unsubstantiated and cogent scientific reasons will never be self-sufficient and independent. That nation will never develop forever!

Today, even the Islamic knowledge that the Muslim Ummah is boast of having is not fully comprehended in the same context the early Muslims understood and worked with to their eternal enviable in both sciences and culture. The so called salafism that is in vogue especially amongst modernized Islamic scholars is not properly understood, let alone tread the paths of the golden ages of Islam. They have forgotten or intentionally refused to be guided by the famous Imam Malik’s wisdom; ‘’Never will this Ummah ever succeed (and develop), but with what developed its first generations’’. The first generation fully understood and worked with the bequeathed guidance of the Apostle of Allah with sincerity, and seeking the pleasure of Allah. The present generation discarded those understandings that worked out very effective, in preference to their lame and disjointed understanding which is proving defective.

The present generation scholars instead of developing and modernizing methods of knowledge acquisitions, they are wasting time modernizing the spiritual and ibadats aspects; new salats, new fasting, new hajj, etc, etc, as if we need new ways of worshipping Allah.

Instead of exemplifying Islam in their inter-personal, occupational and political lives as did the first generations through compassion, trustworthiness and dependability, they ended up in building dreamlands; Islamic state that is lacking real Muslims! They exhibit Islam as merciless and intolerable deen; one that is unpardonable! They symbolize Islam as blood-thirst religion and no respecter of human lives and dignity. They portray Islam as a monster which terrorizes humanbeings without exception. The type of Islam they exhibit is a strange one which has no relationship whatsoever with the generation Islam.

The issues which led to this mutilated and incomplete vampiric religion will continue when next Friday comes, in sha Allah!
