From Femi Oyelola, Kaduna

The Northern Youth Forum has said, contrary to speculations, Muslims in

Nigeria are not marginalised by any group. The group stated this in press release signed by its National Director of Mobilisation, Malam Sirajo Gwaranyo and made available to journalists in Kaduna, recently.

According to the statement, it is the handiwork of those who want to create mischief and disunity in Islam that are flooding the media with information credited to the Sultan of Sokoto, where he was quoted to have said that Muslims are marginalised.

The statement added that, as Muslims and people of faith who are tasked to be grateful to Allah there should exhibit this virtues, because key position of the Vice-President, Speaker of House of Representatives, the two Ministers of defence, National Security Adviser, Comptroller of Customs, to mention but a few, are all Muslims.

“We respect the Sultan and we are sure that the statement is not politically motivated as speculated by some people; he is our father and we respect him, therefore, people should be careful in crediting statement to him, especially those that can cause disunity in the country.
