The Abuja Muslim Forum (AMF) has embarked on the collection of relief materials from well-meaning Muslims in the FCT for onward distribution to the victims of insurgency who gave been displaced from their dwellings and cut off their means of livelihood as a result of the carnage.
The forum said this has become imperative, in view of the number of victims that has kept on growing over the months, while there has been no commensurate attention and help for them.
A statement, signed by the AMF Secretary-General, Murtala Abdul-Rahman, said the AMF is appealing to all Muslim in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and beyond, to rise to the occasion by being
their brother’s keepers, through generous donation in cash and in kind to enable the victims experiences ,some relief from the terrible agony that has afflicted them.
“It should be remembered that these people barely managed to escaped with their lives, leaving behind all they have ever worked for, becoming refugees in their own country .
“We should all put ourselves in their position and imagine for once, what will be our expect ions from fellow brothers and sisters.
The forum further said, “The Muslim Ummah is but one body, if any part is afflicted, the entire body is affected. While we remain resolute in our prayers to overcome this devilish onslaught on our people, let us do the little we can to get to give immediate assistance to our brothers and sisters by contributing food stuff, clothing and money”.
