It is authoritative that the moribund factories across Delta state are to resume production very soon.
Expectedly, several factories, such as Uzere Cassava processing factory limited, Bendel Steel Structures Limited (BSSL) among others will soon resume full scale productions as the state government plans to revitalize them.
The state commissioner for Commerce, Dr. Chris Ekiyor who confirmed the move by the state government, explained that while the Uzere Cassava Processing factory will resume operation in the next two weeks, all unforeseen circumstances as reactivation work has reached advanced stage of 95% completion. Adding that the Bendel Steel Structures Limited BSSL) will resume operation anytime soon as government embark on its reactivation process.
Dr. Ekiyor said that the renewed effort by the government in reviving some of the moribund industries in the state was part of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s vision of opening up massive industrialization aimed at creating more jobs as well as reducing poverty rates.
The Uzere Cassava Processing factory when fully operational has the daily production capacity of 30 tons of garri and industrial starch, among other economic multiplying efforts.
Admitting that not all the ailing industries in the state may be attended to by the present administration given paucity of funds and other economic variables, the commissioner noted that the choice for the few industries at present was done in view of their economic values to “Delta Beyond oil” initiative of the present administration.
Dr. Ekiyor disclosed that the state government was keen about the Uzere cassava Processing factory; the Bendel Steel Company limited as well as the ongoing construction of the four fish feed mills noting that it would commence operation before the expiration of the present administration. He said: Agreed that this administration is almost winding up, we are at present concentrating on those things that are achievable within the few months we have, therefore, we are looking at factories that will add values to our Delta Beyond oil initiative.
