Barely days to the closing date for the collection of nomination form, aspirants under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking election into various elective offices have thronged the headquarters of the party to avoid being left out.
Peoples Daily reporter at the PDP national secretariat noticed a mad rush by aspirants trying to outdo each other after waiting on a long queue for their turn to collect the nomination form that has been the prerogative requirement to express ones interest.
Amongst the aspirants for the rush include former Minister of Water Resources and present deputy governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Muktari Shagari, former Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Samuel Otomi who are both running for governorship elections in Sokoto and Benue states resp ectively.
Also in the race include, Major Lancelot Anyanya (rtd) who indicated interest to run as governor of Rivers State, who promised to reverse the state’s present status of backwardness by creating a level playing field for all the people of the state to contribute to its development.
Another candidate, Mr. Oghenevo John also indicated interest to vie for the Delta State governorship election and promised to wither the storm through the creation of job opportunities in the state.
However, the rush may not have been far from the fear of the unknown by the politicians going by the just renewed warning by the PDP that the party would not condone any extension of the closing date of the sale of the nomination forms from the 30th of this month, even to the President of the federal republic of Nigeria.
