The crisis rocking Mbiri community in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta state over the death of the heir apparent of the Kingdom, Prince Evans Alekwe,has been resolved.
The peaceful resolution of the crisis was followed by the Initiatives of the Council Chairman, Mr Victor Ebonka, the Divisional Police Officer within the area and stakeholders’ in Mbiri community.
It was gathered that warring parties, including youths of the community had following series of meetings, agreed to allow peace prevail in the community due to the passionate intervention by the traditional rulers led by the Obi of Owa Kingdom, and Chairman, Delta state Traditional Rulers’ Council, HRM Emmanuel Efeizomor11, held at Owa palace.
A visit to the community by our reporter on Tuesday, the initial tension that gripped the community known for its foremost farm settlement in Africa had eased out after the peace meeting which also resolved that the next line for the throne should be accorded all privileged and rights, while harping on the need for sustainable peace with a view to ensuring greater development of the community.The youths were in the community were urged to ensure that peace prevailed to galvanize growth even as the council boss has expressed willingness to partner youths across the local government area for the acquisition of various skills that would guarantee their self-dependency.
Sources said that as part of the peace Initiatives, various parties had agreed to give a befitting burial to the late Prince Evans and return to the status quo before the incident as the Prince died suddenly on Sunday September 22, 2019 at Kifa hospital in neighbouring Umunede community in the same local government area.
Sources said that the Prince had complained of stomach upset and ache before when the situation deteriorated, he was rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost few minutes he arrived.
It was gathered that the crisis to that dogged the death of the Prince had root in the marital conflict between the monarch of the Kingdom,Obi Ifeanyi Alekwe and his estranged first wife and mother of the late Prince Evans Alekwe.
Investigation had revealed that following an unresolved conflicts,Obi Alekwe had to send the late Prince’s mother and his wife packing, and this was after she reportedly bore him two sons including the now late Prince.
Thereafter, he took another wife and his subsisting queen, and however, the crisis between the king and his estranged wife would not readily wash away, but rather,trickled down to their children.
The mutual suspicion among stakeholders’ was at the heart of the crisis that followed Evans’ death and Evans who was believed to be in his mid-40s at the time of his death, was unmarried.
