Mob foil attempted rape of female trader in Delta

Angry mob at the popular Asaba Delta state Ogbeogonogo market on Sunday foiled an attempt by suspected insane man to rape a female palm oil trader in the market
Eyewitness Ngozi Ejeme said that the suspect suddenly emerged from the bush part of the state owned water board sharing boundary with the market in turned clothes and zodiac looking with overgrown bears and a walking stick allegedly from behind and grabbed the palm oil seller and while the struggle to remove her clothes lasted, the mob went after him when the victim shouted for help that was followed with the use of her teeth for defence.
One of the mob who spoke to Journalists at the scene, Emeka Nnadi said:”we heard the shout of the woman where we were playing draught and we rushed into the market and discovered the man in dirty clothes with over grown bears holding her waist very tight and was trying to rape her. “When we got to the scene, we started beat him until we succeeded and also discovered that the man was sick.
It was gathered that the victim (name withheld) is mother of three children from the Urhobo speaking tribe and a popular red oil trader within the open space of the Ogbeogonogo market.
Few months ago, it was alleged that she encountered a similar situation in the same market but was averted by taskforce officials attached to the market.
Sources said that various insane men in the past, especially during nightfall had allegedly attempted raping housewives who sell late in the evenings but for the intervention of the security guards who are always on hand to save the situation and in most cases beat up the suspects.
At the A Division Police station, some police officer who spoke to Journalists on condition of anonymity said the suspect was sent away from the station when it was clear that he was insane as he was consistently giggling at every question he was asked by them.
