Niger state governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu has stated that the collapse of the Very Important Personalities, VIP pavilion during last Saturdays Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN rally to draw support for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan reelection in 2015 was not ‘enemy action’.
Aliyu also said that the collapse of the pavilion was not as a result of poor job by those that handled it as is being speculated around the country.
The governor who hosted the event that attracted a large number of supporters of the reelection of President Jonathan in 2015 from the North Central geo political zone of the country, made the clarification when he received top traditional rulers from the state led by the chairman of the state council of chiefs and Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar who paid him a sympathy visit over the incident.
“The incident was decreed by Allah it was only prayers that reduced the magnitude it was no enemy action”.
Aliyu added that the over crowdedness of the pavilion was responsible for its collapse.
The pavilion, he said, was designed to accommodate only 30 people but ended up sitting over 100 people.
Earlier the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger state council of Chiefs, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar had consoled the government and people of Niger state over the incident and directed the Chief Imam of Minna central mosque,Alhaji Ibrahim Isa Fari to pray for the continued protection of all the leaders of the country and for peace to reign in the land.
