The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has commissioned a mini water treatment plant in Laure Wali Kudan Local Government of kaduna State.
Speaking at the commissioning and handing over ceremony in kaduna yesterday, Alhaji Muhammed Nanono, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the project was meant to uplift the living condition of the people of the community.
“This is why we are in kaura wali to commission the mini-water treatment plant constructed.
“We all know that water is one of the basic necessities of life and so the provision of clean and potable water for domestic use is important.
“A safe drinking water will ensure a healthy living and this will invariably promote productive activities in Agriculture and other sectors.”, he added.
Nanono was represented by Engr Olusegun Owolabi of, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD).
The Minister appealed for adequate security in the premises to avoid pilfering of equipment.
He said people must imbibe maintenance culture to ensure the sustainability of the project.
“We, therefore, appeal to the State Government, Local Government and the Traditional institution to collaborate and ensure that the project is properly used and maintained”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister highlighted some programmes introduced by the Federal Government in its effort to revive the agricultural sector.
Which according to him include Presidential Fertilizer Initiative, Nigeria Inventive-based Risk Sharing for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), Anchor Borrowers Programme, Resuscitation of National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) among numerous others he said.
In her remarks, the Vice Chairman Kudan Local Government Areas Adi Turaki lauded the Federal Government for the gesture and urged members of the community to take ownership of the project.
