The Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Jibril has urged Governing Board members , public servants to imbibe the spirit of accountability, honesty and transparency in the management resources entrusted in their care.
The Minister gave this charge at the weekend while inaugurating the Governing Boards and Councils of some Parastatals and Agencies under the supervision of the Ministry.
A statement signed by Ovuakporie Efe For Director Press said that the Minister emphasized that it is imperative for them to bear in mind that “the present Administration has zero tolerance for any form of corruption and that the stance will not be compromised in anyway.
“Government frowns at any form of corrupt practices perpetuated by any board member as well as the management team of the Agencies”, Jibril said .
He noting that the environment sector is very vital to the sustainability of the national development , the Minister urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear on their new assignments in a manner that is consistent with the Change Agenda of the Buhari led Administration.
The Minister assured that the Ministry would continue to work closely with the Agencies to ensure compliance with the extant guidelines of the Public Service Regulations adding that the governing boards and the agencies were critical in achieving the developmental goals of government.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shehu Ahmed tasked the appointees to be alive to their responsibilities by ensuring the safety of our environment.
