The Minister of Sports and Chairman of the National sports commission (NSC), Dr.Tammy Danagogo has made public the resignation letter of Aminu Maigari.
According to a three-paragraph statement signed by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister, Patrick Omorodion, the resignation letter dated August 12, 2004, takes effect from August 26, 2014.
Aminu Maigari’s resignation letter addressed to the Sports Minister/ Chairman, National Sports Commission reads in part, “Collectively, we have worked assiduously to bring success and glory to Nigeria through football. I am happy to say that we brought backs the past glory years of football to Nigeria.
“Further to this, I wish to voluntarily inform the Honourable Minister that I have decided not to contest in the next election of the Executive Board of Nigeria Football Federation.
“This therefore also means that, I have resigned from the Presidency of Nigeria Football Federation with effect the congress of the 2014 election”.
The Minister also noted that the tenure of Maigari-led Board expires by midnight of Monday, August 25, 2014.
“The President of Nigeria Football Federation Alhaji Aminu Maigari has formally resigned his position on the board with effect from August 26, 2014.
“The Bauchi-born administrator resigned as NFF President on August 12, 2014 to pave way for a peaceful resolution of the crisis that engulfed the football federation shortly after the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
