The city of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital stood still yesterday as the Ondo state governor,Dr Olusegun Mimiko commissioned the Labour party office.
A mammoth crowd of Labour Party supporters had thronged the new office as early as 8am making movement of vehicles along the Dugbe/Molete axis tedious.
While addressing the mammoth crowd, Governor Olusegun Mimiko said he was surprised at the mammoth crowd despite not coming yet for rally.
According to him, there is difference between Labour Party and others saying that the universities in states being controlled by the APC are anti-masses by charging exorbitant fees.
He lashed out at the Lagos State Government for hiking tuition fees against the interest of the masses wondering how much will private universities charge if Lagos State University in a ‘so called’ progressive state charges N250, 000 while Ondo state students in Ondo State university are paying N25,000.
He asked those renewing the city to renew the masses and not destroy means of subsistence and cause trouble for the masses.
Mimiko also used the occasion to urge Labour Party supporters not to work against the interest of President Goodluck Jonathan.
National Chairman Labour Party, Dan Nwuayanwu, who was flanked by Nmembers Assembly members of the party said the party is the only true progressive party in Nigeria.
Nwanyawu urged the supporters to work towards ensuring victory for the party and egde out Governor Abiola Ajimobi in 2015.
