Nigerian ArmyThe Nigerian military has denied the claim that 700 trained soldiers had defected at the graduation from Nigeria Military School (NMS) after passing through some trainings at Zaria.

It will be recalled that a security expert and vice chancellor, Bingham University, Professor Leonard Fwa had earlier alleged the defection of 700 recruits from graduation at the Nigeria Military School (NMS) Zaria, while blaming the federal government for carelessness as regards tackling insecurity in the country. In his words “we have trained over 1000 young ones in Zaria… in NMS, the day of graduation, about 700 of them disappeared”, Fwa had lamented that the Federal government has done nothing to search them out despite the threats such dangerous development pose to the country.

The claim was however denied by the Nigerian Military as false maintaining that no graduation has taken place since August, 2013 and that the information in its totality was false.

According to the Public Relation Officer, Nigerian Military School (NMS) Zaria, Lieutenant Hashim Sa’ad Abdullahi “ I don’t know where the professor got his story from, I think he might have fabricated the story. The students fled to where?”, he queried.

Furthermore the Director, Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade added that Nigerian Military School (NMS) does not train recruits as reported. “Besides, the boys are not automatically enlisted into the Nigerian Army after passing-out parade”, he said.
