Nigerian troops of Operation Sahel Sanity of Special Super Camp 4 Faskari of Katsina State have in their continued fights to clear north-west of banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling, arrested 30 suspected bandits after destroying several notorious camps in Katsina and Zamfara States.
This was contained in an updated statement by the Acting Director Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko and made available to newsmen in Gusau Zamfara State capital, saying, those arrested included bandits, their Informants and logistic suppliers.
It further informed that, following intelligence, troops deployed at Dan Ali village in Danmusa local government area of Katsina State, were able to arrest 9 suspected bandits collaborators at Sabon Gari under same village on the 24th of September 2020.
The statement also noted that, 2 suspected bandits namely Dayyabu Abubakar and Yahaya Murtala were arrested by troops on patrol along Machika-Mararaba road, adding that, “On 22 September 2020, following a tip off, troops in Faskari Katsina State arrested 2 suspected bandits namely Haruna Hassan and Kabiru Abdullahi at ‘Yankara Market and Angwan Boka.
“Accordingly, suspects were identified to be members of a bandits group terrorizing locals in the general area, items recovered from them include 2 mobile phones, One knife and cannabis sativa. On same day, troops of Sector 3 arrested one Mallam Gambo, a wanted bandits’ logistics supplier at Dansadau in Maru local government area of Zamfara State”, the statement noted.
According to it, troops have succeeded in foiling a planned attack on Dayau village in Kaura Namoda local government area of Zamfara State as they responded to a distress call, explaining that, “On sighting troops arrival, the bandits in an attempt to escape cowardly fired sporadically and withdrew into the bush, nevertheless the resilient troops pursued them deep into the forest, neutralizing one of the bandits”.
“on the same day, troops deployed at ‘Yar Tsamiya Jino while on patrol, rescued a young female kidnapped victim identified as Jamila Sani around the fringes of the forest. Preliminary investigation revealed that she was kidnapped alongside others at Makasu village in Kankara LGA of Katsina State on 7 September 2020. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims”, the statement has assured.
It further announced that, the troops were urged not to rest on their oars until Northwest is rid of all criminals. While the good people of the Northwest were once again assured of unreserved commitment to the safety of lives and property within the zone, they are also encouraged to continue to avail the troops with timely and credible information that will assist to succeed in the ongoing operations.
