The personnel of the Nigeria Air Force, NAF Special Operations Base, Bauchi, has embarked on a road match to improve on their physical and mental fitness.
The exercise commenced at the NAF Parade Ground and officers, airmen and women covered a distance of five kilometres distance.
The Commanding Officer of the base, AVM SaddiqueKaita told journalists after the exercise in Bauchi that the exercise was to update the physical and mental fitness of the personnel.
He said “The exercise is to enhance professional, physical and mental fitness of the personnel while discharging their constitutional mandates. It is a culture in the Nigeria Air Force to organize such exercise on quarterly bases and this is for the second quarters of the year.,”
Kaitasaid the exercise is vital for our men especially now that the country is facing security challenges such as the insurgent in the North East and security challenges in other parts of the country,
He said that the event was also in line with the vision of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal AbubakarSadique towards repositioning NAF to a highly professional and disciplined force.
Kaita noted that the exercise was a routine but would be given priority to keep the personnel fit to enable them protect the territorial integrity of the nation.
He, called on the personnel not relay on the routine exercise but to engage themselves in other sporting events.
The commanding officer said that “as you can see, none of us collapse during the exercise, that tell you that we are physically and mentally fit and ready for any active operations”
He urged the personnel to be more committed to it and make it their daily routine before coming to work and during their leisure’s to enable them deliver,”
