As Nigerian Muslims join the rest of the world to observe Maulud Nabiyyi on Friday, they have been enjoined to use the occasion to calmly reflect on the political and soico-economic problems bedeviling this nation, especially, the security challenges which have remained unabated and pose threat to our corporate existence.
National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO), in statement signed by its National President, Alh Kamal’ddin AKintunde called for more sacrifice on the part of every Nigerian and prayers for a divine intervention and bringing the multiplicity of problems to an end and at ensuring stability.
While charging Muslims to be guided by the teachings and legacies of Prophet Muhammad and allow Islam to be entrenched in their souls for the total transformation of the country, it reminded them of the Qur’anic passage that says: “You Muslims are the best community raised up for the benefit of mankind enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong” (Q3:110), asking the adherents of the various faith to eschew religious bigotry and join hands in the task of nation building.
On 2015 general elections, the apex Muslim youth group implored political office seekers and the electorates to cooperate with INEC in its unbiased posture at sustaining democracy, asking them to take part meaningfully in the electoral processes and to exercise their franchise within the framework of guidelines and law of the land.
