The chief of Dakwa Community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Alhassan Musa Babanchikuri, has called on both Muslims and Christians to use the occasion of the Eid-el-maulud (birth of Prophet Mohammed) to pray for the peace and unity, in order to overcome the lingering security challenges.
Babanchikuri, who made the call in an interview with Peoples Daily to mark the Eid-el- maulud celebration at the weekend in Dakwa, urged Muslims to always emulate the life style of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).
While describing the prophet as a pacesetter for mankind, he urged Muslims to imbibe the attributes of peace, oneness and love, which the Prophet epitomized, He also charged Muslims as well as non-Muslims alike on good behavior and harmonious relationship with their neighbours wherever they found themselves.
According to him, the essence of any religion was to make adherents of such faith better followers in their living standard, deeds and utterances.
He used the period and appealed to the traditional rulers in the FCT irrespective of their status to stay out of politics, urging them to be supportive of government only on good policies implementation.
Similarly, commenting on the forthcoming general elections in less than forty days, Babanchikuri urged clergymen to pray for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
He equally warned youths against being used by selfish politicians as political thugs.
