Gov Aminu Masari of Katsina State has urged Nigerians to re-elect President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, for Nigeria to have sufficient power supply that would enhance socio-economic development.
Masari made the call yesterday in Katsina during the official commissioning of 1×60MVA, 132/33kv Transformers at Katsina Transmission Substation.
He said power supply in the country has been improved greatly during the present administration.
“I was informed that the country power supply has reached 8,100 with the less amount of money spent compared to what was spent by the previous administrations.
“For all of us, for tomorrow and next tomorrow, we need President Buhari to continue to provide services to Nigeria.
“Nigeria has too many big men, but few leaders, top among them is the President Buhari.
“We need him to be able to continue to render services to the nation for us, our children and grandchildren,” he said.
In his remarks, the Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Mr Usman Gur Mohammed, said that the electricity supply in the country has increased to 8,100 MW.
He said that the country now targeting 20,000 Mega Watts by 2021.
He further said that would assist to enhance industrialisation thereby creating employment opportunities to the citizens.
Mohammed said that newly installed transformer in Katsina would increase power supply by 48MW to Katsina and environs explaining that this would also assist to boost socio-economic ectivities in the state.
