Masari tasks NULGE on accountable leadership in LGs

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has tasked members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, (NULGE), Katsina branch to rise up to always check the excesses of political leadership at the local government level.
Masari stated this yesterday in Katsina while receiving members of the union led by its state president, Comrade Aliyu Haruna Kankara on a courtesy call at the Government House.
He reminded them that if they ignore moves by political leadership to destroy the local council it would in the long run twill affect them more.
The governor advised members of the union to look at operations of local government beyond over dependence on oil revenue from the center.
“You should device ways of strengthening mode of revenue generation at the local level even if it will be enough to cater for overhead cost.
You should not connive with the political leadership to siphon such funds,” he adviced Masari similarly pledged to look into the implementation of the backlog of promotions done to deserving local government staff, adding that he take the welfare of workers in the state seriously.
In his remark, the NULGE, state president Comrade Aliyu Haruna Kankara appealed to the governor to implement consolidated salary structure for local government head of administration in the state.
He added that with the consolidated salary structure they can comfortably enjoyed similar benefit and privileges according to permanent secretaries after retirement.
Kankara expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the state governor especially in the area of peace and security and many giant strides recorded in the education, health, agriculture, water resources’, roads and infrastructure development.
