Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State yesterday signed the 2020 appropriation bill as passed by the state House of Assembly.
The Governor had in December last year presented a proposed budget of N249,463,829,250.00 billion to the state House of Assembly for the 2020 financial year.
Masari who commended the state Assembly for the speedy passage of the budget noted that in future budget preparations communities would be mobilized to give their inputs.
The Governor further added that the government will in the future organized town hall meetings to sensitized communities on the need for their inputs in the budget preparation.
He similarly urged the state Assembly members to be organizing town hall meeting to get the people input before the budget preparations.
He added “ if people are involved in the budget preparations they will feel proud to contribute their quota in the execution of the budget”.
Masari also tasked members of the state Assembly to take the issue of oversight function seriously because as he said it contributes in correcting mistakes correcting mistakes in the budget execution.
In a remark, the speaker of the assembly, Alhaji Tasi’u Maigari Zango disclosed that the assembly passed the 2020 of N24 billion as against the sum of N249,463,829,250.00 presented to the state Assembly by the executive arm.
