Katsina State government has donated a bus to the Funtua branch of Nigeria Bar Association-NBA.
Similarly, a plot of land has been allocated to the Association for the construction of a permanent office accommodation in Funtua by the state government.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari announced the donations when he received officials of the Association who paid him a courtesy call at Government House, Katsina.
The Governor explained that the APC administration appreciates the role played by the NBA before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
He said he had cause to discuss with the Katsina branch on the issue of granting of bail to hardened criminals and the need to take action to stop the practice without necessarily breaking but bending the law.
He also implored the lawyers to contribute on the issue of banditry and drug related offences.
At a point, Governor Aminu Masari explained that he had to invite members of the bar during a security council meeting to discuss ways of stop the proceeds of drugs deals to subvert the cause of Justice.
Alhaji Aminu Masari noted that Funtua being a commercial Centre needed an active NBA branch but observed that the branch relate more with Zaria branch than that of katsina.
The Governor therefore emphasized the need for the branch officials to be visible with the government to avoid being overshadowed.
As an autonomous branch, he said they should work hard to avoid being seen as a local branch.
He called on them to build reputation and make names for katsina had been first in so many professions.
Earlier, the branch Chairman of the NBA in Funtua. Abdullahi Barau Faskari told Governor Masari that they were at the Government House to congratulate him on both the re-election and victory at the tribunal.
He requested a new bus and allocation of land for the Association in Funtua.
He described Governor Aminu Bello Masari as a bar friendly Governor and announced that an award of excellence would be presented to the Governor during the 2019 bar dinner to be hosted in December, this year.
