Masari, 5 others pick Katsina APC guber form

Six gubernatorial aspirants have so far purchased nomination form to contest the All Progressives Congress (APC), gubernatorial primaries in Katsina State.

Addressing newsmen, yesterday in Katsina, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa disclosed that those who picked the nomination form include, Former Speaker of national assembly, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, former deputy governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Aminchi.

The rest according to him, include, Col. Abdul’aziz Musa ‘Yar’adua, Alhaji Abubakar Sama’ila Isa, Alhaji Sada Ilu and Senator Sadiq ‘Yar’adua while five collected for the senatorial seats, 22 for House of Representatives and 38 for state House of assembly.

He however noted that more candidates may likely purchase the forms in coming days, saying that some aspirants may have purchased the forms in Abuja and would submit it in Katsina.

The chairman added that they have recently conducted a stakeholders meeting of the party in the state capital where according to him, party discipline and unity among stakeholders were stressed.

Inuwa stated that they have made it clear that the party would not condone thuggery and violence during the conduct of elections, warning that any aspirant who violated the directives would be appropriately punished by the party.

The chairman similarly disclosed that the primaries would be through direct process where he said coming Sunday the party faithful would converge in their local government area to elect the delegates.

He however promised that the party would be free and fair to all aspirants as according to him the party will promote the issue of consensus but that if it fails, aspirants would go for a primary election.
