Senate President, David Mark, the United State Assistant Secretary on African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield and the USA Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwiste yesterday held a closed door session deliberating on issues bordering on security concerns as well as credible and free polls in 2015.

A statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Kola Ologbondiyan said the trio also during their discussion agreed to intensify forces in assisting the nation to tackle insurgency and the dreaded Boko Haram sect menace across the country.

The Senate President who played host to the United State of America guests in his official residence, Apo, Abuja, said the bilateral ties between Nigeria and the USA has come a long way, adding that the present administration will not leave any stone unturned in ensuring absolute peace and harmony in the nation.

He stressed that Nigeria is relying on an advanced democracy like the United State of America in strengthening her young democratic institutions.

“We are a young democratic nation. We are ready to receive whatsoever assistant from an advanced democratic nation such as the US. The US has assured us of their support in the area of elections, security and health.

Earlier, the Assistant Secretary, Bureau of African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said the US has already built a strong relationship with Nigeria noting that the just concluded US/African Summit was another move by the US to close rank with developing nations across Africa.

She further assured of the US readiness to assist Nigeria towards a credible, free and fair polls in 2015 general elections.
