“The suspect, identified as Uchechukwu Ugwuozor, had allegedly gone to the bed where the mother, also identified as Eunice Ugwuozor, was lying down and stabbed her to death over a yet-to-be-identified reason, abandoning the lifeless body of the mother and escaping to an unknown destination.
“Sources close to the family hinted that the alleged murderer is linked to an unresolved psychological problem.
“Meanwhile, the dead body of the deceased is now deposited at the hospital mortuary of Our Saviour located at 9th Mile Corner, Ngwo, Enugu, just as the suspect has also been apprehended by the operatives.”
The PPRO also said that the proactive measures which the command had adopted had put it in a better stead to contain any ugly incident during the Sallah celebrations.
Commenting on the preparedness of the command for the Sallah, he said: “The command has involved itself with strict proactive policing measures, aimed at ensuring a peaceful state and that of Sallah inclusive.
“So, the command will continue to be proactive in policing measures which involve strong partnership with members of the public, sister security agencies, the media and, of course, we have increased visibility policing for easy response to distress call should there be any incident”. (NAN)
