The police have arraigned a 27-year old panel beater, Christopher John, in a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Life Camp, Abuja for alleged mischief.

John, who resides at Karmo Village, Abuja, is standing trial for mischief before Senior Magistrate Asama’u Akanni.

The prosecutor, Insp. Audu Bitrus, told the court that the accused willfully damaged the left side mirror of an Infinity jeep belonging to Mr. Onyeka Eze of Apo, Abuja.

Bitrus said Eze lodged complaint against the accused at the Life Camp Police Station on July 13.

He said that on the same date, the complainant went to a mechanic workshop at Karmo Village and John deliberately walked beside Eze’s car and damaged the left side mirror valued at N12, 000.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, and Akanni granted him bail in the sum of N20, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Akanni ordered that the sureties should deposit a photocopy of driver’s licence, international passport or National ID card with the court registry.

She said the sureties should have a reasonable means of livelihood, with a traceable address and should be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

She adjourned the matter till August 11 for continuation of hearing. (NAN)
