Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has challenged Northern Governors to work towards strategizes that will resuscitate ailing industries and companies in the region.
The North East vice President, of the Association Dr .Ahmad Mai Abba made the plea while speaking to newsmen in Bauchi yesterday, saying that there is need for the state government in the region to look into the issue of moribund industries that left the region without substantive industries.
Abba emphasized the need to for the states government to established smaller and medium scale industries in the rural areas to discourage rural urban migration.
According to him, unemployment rate was the major challenged facing the northern region, I and suggested that resuscitation of the industries would assist in overcoming social menace in the society.
The Zonal Vice President MAN described Federal Government industrialization process as critical in nation building, suggesting for the restriction on importing substandard products in the Nigerian market.
He said,” patronizing local products and indigenous industries by Nigerians would strengthens capacity utilization of home base manufacturers for development and economic growth.”
He also pointed out that establishment of Agricultural produce processing factories will enhance mechanization farming in the region and will also improve the socio economic growth.
Mai Abba urges youth in the region to embrace modern farming techniques and engage in apprenticeship schemes for job creation rather than depending on white-collar jobs.
