A Zuba Upper Area Court has sentenced Yusuf Magaji, 19, of no fixed address, to three months in prison for stealing church property.
The presiding judge, Malam Aminu Sa’ad, passed the sentence after Magaji pleaded guilty to the two-count offence of joint act and theft.
Sa’ad, however, gave the convict an option of N15, 000 as fine.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Cpl. Momoh Ibrahim, had told the court that on July 2, Adeniran Adekunle, of Apiawe-Deidei (Abuja), reported the case at the Dei-dei Police Station.
Ibrahim told the court that on the same date, the convict along with one Ibrahim, now at large, broke in through the ceiling of Providence Baptist Church at Shagari quarters.
The prosecutor stated that they stole one bicycle, PVC ceiling fittings and one digger, all valued at N16, 000.
According to him, the offences contravene the provisions of sections 79, and 288 of Penal Code. (NAN)
