Man arraigned for allegedly raping minor in Benue

A Chief Magistrate Court in Makurdi, Benue State capital presided over by Justice J.O Anyia yesterday arraigned a middle aged man Emmanuel Ogbile of Obarike-lto, Obi local government area for criminal trespass and rape.
During hearing of the case, Police Prosecutor ASP Michael Iorundu told the court that on the 27th October, 2019 at about 3:45pm, the above mentioned case was received at Criminal Investigation Department, CID Makurdi from Divisional Police Headquarters Obi Division via letter No. AR:3100/BNSIOB/VOL.2/112 dated 27th October, 2019..
He also, stated that on the 26th October, 2019 at about 8:30 am, one Justina 0pe of Obarike-Ito, reported at Obi Division Obarike-Ito that, on the 21st October, 2019 at about 7pm, Emmanuel trespassed into her house and inquired of one Pastor whose name is yet to be known.
According to him, Justina explained that, as she left her compound the said Emmanuel Ogbile went into the bath room where her daughter, Dorcas aged 10 years old was bathing and he forcefully had sexual intercourse with her and injured her on her private part without her consent.
During police investigation, the said Emmanuel Ogbile was arrested and he confessed committing the crime. Contrary to Sections 349 and 284 of the penal code law of Benue State Nigeria, 2004 suggested, even as no plea was taken for want of Jurisdiction by counsels
After listening to the First Information Report by the Police Prosecutor, the Presiding Justice Anyia ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prisons Makurdi and adjourned the case to 19th December, 2019 for further mention.
