Malnutrition : Jigawa moves to save over 32,000 lives of malnourish children

The Jigawa state government reaffirmed its commitment towards saving lives of over 32,000 children whom were reported suffering from malnutrition in the state.
The permanent secretary directorate of budget and planning Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Garun Gabas drop the hint while receiving the executive members of the Jigawa state Coalition of Civil Society on Nutrition (JICON) in Dutse Jigawa state.
He explained that the state government earmarked over N600 million on nutrition and safe motherhood programmes in the state “aim at ensuring healthy children and quality future generation”.
“the state government made a total of over N600 million in 2017 budget in the ministry of health and nutrition related ministries such as Women affairs, Water resource, environment and Agriculture in order to succeed fighting against malnutrition” he said.
“As you aware the state government recently released N150 million to unicef as counterpart fund of nutrition for the procurement of RUTF and routine drugs” Garun Gabas said.
Speaking earlier the Chairman of the Jigawa state Coalition of Civil Society on Nutrition (JICON), Comrade Shuaibu Musa Kafingana said they were in the permanent secretary’s office to expressed appreciation for the released of funds contained in the budget on nutrition programme.
Comrade Musa explained that “the recent released of N150 million at ago is commendable and of course its will improve the condition of malnourished children in the state”.
“Still sir we are appealing for more release of fund as the year is about to be end so as to allow the government and its working non governmental organization (NGO) to achieve all the plans on nutrition targeted this year”, the JICON chairman.
