Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholder in Nasarawa State, Liman Kwande has said that former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku is worse than the G5 governors who defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC) and has has done more damage than good for President Goodluck Jonathan while in office.
Reacting to the defection of Maku to the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Kwande said Maku’s previous action gave the opposition opportunity to create confusion within the ranks of the party that led to the defection of 5 governors.
Maku defected to the APGA after suffering defeat from Yusuf Agabi who scored 214 votes to defeat him at the PDP primary election.
Kwande equally accused Maku of creating disaffection between some northern elders and President Goodluck Jonathan in other to scuttle the chances of the PDP in the country.
“Labaran Maku has been going round abusing and accusing leaders in the north. There is no section or community in the north he has not abused. He abused traditional rulers, former Head of state and Northern statesmen both in PDP and APC”.
He said that the action of Labaran Maku is worse than the G5 governors who defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
“When some PDP governors defected to APC he abused them, that they were not being grateful for leaving the party. Now can he defend his statement about those former governors? Maku has done worse than the G5 governors that left PDP and joined the APC”.
He said the utterances of Maku while in office as minister diminishes the chances of the PDP in the 2015 general elections.
He said that Maku is a dishonest person that lacks the moral grounds to accuse the PDP of injustice after reaping from the party.
Kwande said Maku has no justification for his action after enjoying the services and benevolence of the PDP more than any other person in the state.
“Nobody has benefited from the party from the state and national level like Maku in the whole state and Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) members in Nasarawa since 1999”.
He added that Maku was the architect of Senator Ewuga sojourn to the defunct CPC where he won the senatorial seat of Akwanga north senatorial district.
“Maku did the same thing in 2011 when he blocked Senator Solomon Ewuga from becoming senator under the PDP which was the reason Ewuga joined the defunct CPC and won the election”.
“Maku has always spoiled the chances of the party in the state. Maku is a very dishonest person”.
He advised the former minister to stop dreaming of becoming the governor of the state, as according to Kwande, the people of the state will never vote a dishonest person.
“With what he has done, the people of Nasarawa State will never vote him to become governor, never, ever” he added.
“He was a commissioner, deputy governor and minister for over 5 years, because he served as a minister of state information under Dora Akunyili before he became a senior minister”.
