The wife of Delta State Governor, and founder of 05 Initiative, Mrs Edith Okowa has charged teachers in the state to make positive impact on the academic life of their pupils and students by being passionately committed to their teaching profession.
Mrs Okowa stated this yesterday at the official commissioning of quality assurance monitoring vehicle and motorcycle where 2018 instructional materials were also distributed to schools in the 25 local government areas in the state held in Asaba.
Mrs Okowa who harped on the need for teachers to play their teaching role of impacting sound morals and academic knowledge in their students, warned against illegal collection of money from pupils and students under any guise, adding that if teachers did their best by impacting sound morals and academic knowledge in their students and pupils.
In his remarks, the Director in the South- South zonal office of Universal Basic Education Commission ( UBEC), Osahon Igbinoba applauded the Okowa led administration for quality collaboration with UBEC in accessing the state counterpart fund for advocacy and sensitization of school management and other stakeholders for effective implementation of the UBEC programme in the state.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary, Delta State Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Sir Byron Unimi said that in an effort to improve the quality of education nationwide, the management of UBEC recently approved two percent of SUBEB’s intervention funds for quality assurance in all the states.
