Makarfi denies plan to dump PDP
Former Kaduna State Governor and Senator representing Kaduna-North senatorial district, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi yesterday denied plan to dump the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Makarfi stated this while submitting his nomination form to contest 2015 senatorial election in Kaduna, yesterday.
According to Makarfi, who was accompanied to Kaduna state secretariat of PDP in Kaduna by his teeming supporters, said he was among the founding fathers of the PDP and therefore has no intention to dump the party for any emerging political party.
Speaking to journalists before he submitted his completed form to the party chairman, Chief Abubakar Gaiya Haruna, Makarfi, who stormed the secretariat with his coordinators and hundreds of associates, said, “I am here to submit my forms, having filled it.”I don’t believe in making noise and talking. It is not in party office that one should show his or her strength; it is in the ballot box that we should show that we have people.
“I am here not to buy but to submit it. We will do all our best to ensure victory for our party; I will run again in our party for the
Kaduna-North senatorial district. We should work together; I am a founding member of PDP and will remain here and have no intention to dump the party”, he affirmed.
Makarfi, while answering questions on whether the All Progressive Congress (APC) is a threat to PDP said, “It depends on what you mean by threat; it is not a one-man party and I consider all parties contesting against PDP as threats. It is a threat that we should do more to win and ensure victory.”
With this development, Makarfi is the first PDP senatorial aspirant in the state to submit his nomination form.
