The chairman of Madagali Local Government Area in Adamawa state, Hon. James Abawu Watharda has confirmed receiving about 30 women and children abducted last month by suspected Boko Haram insurgents from Kumamza and Munagu-Afayi areas of Borno and Adamawa states and who escaped from the dreaded Sambisa forest.
Reports had it that the escaped women crossed an erected wall when their captors went out to engage troops at Damboa in Borno state, though some were said to have been recaptured and return back by the insurgents.
According to Hon. Watharda, the council have, received the escapees and are being assisted accordingly “At least 30 women including their children have escaped and we are assisting them.”
‘’They were taken to Gulak General Hospital for treatment and examination, infact, they seems to be manhandled by their captors,’’ said the local council boss.
When contacted for confirmation, the Army Public Relations Officer (APRO) captain Jafaru Nuhu said the army authority is not aware of the development but promise to verify in due course.
