Lunguda/Waja communal clash: Police arrest sponsor, 15 others in Yola

The Adamawa state Police Command has arrested one Alhaji Halilu Lafiya and fifteen (15) others in connection with the Lunguda/Waja communal crisis in the state.
Spokesman of the command,DSP Suleiman Nguroje disclosed the arrest in a press statement issued in Yola, Thursday, stressing that the command while enforcing the law has apprehended Alhaji Halilu and fifteen others in connection with the crisis.
Nguroje explained that the police operatives have since swung in to investigation which yielded positive results with the arrest and recovering two guns and some dangerous weapons .
“The Adamawa state police command wishes to inform the general public that,following the communal clash in Guyuk and Lafiya in Lamurde local government Area that resulted to lost of lives and properties.
“The command while enforcing the law has so far apprehended one Alhaji Halilu Lafiya and fifteen others in connection with the case and all are undergoing investigation.
“The command calls on members of the general public particularly those in Guyuk and Lafiya communities to remain calm and continue to give useful information to police.The statement added
While assuring the public of its primary objective of protection of lives and properties,the command advised people to desist from taking laws in to their hands rather report to security outfits of any injustice mated on them.
In a related development,the state government has constituted a 7 man administrative panel to look in to the prolonged communal crisis so as to proffers lasting solutions in addressing it once and for all.
Director General media and communications to Governor Fintiri,Solomon Kumagar disclosed the development in a press statement issued yesterday in Yola stating that the special administrative panel is to investigate the recent crisis between Lunguda and Waja communities in Dumna of Guyuk district.
It added that the panel is to be chaired by General Harris Dzarma (rtf),with Archbishop Musa Panti Fillibus,Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza,Chairman Muslim council,Gambo Jika,Imam Bappare Umar Kem,Pastor Emmanuel Kwagherga as members.
