The League Management Company (LMC) have indefinitely called off two Nigeria Professional Football League matches to commemorate the death of the Emir of Kano Ado Abdullahi Bayero, one of Nigeria’s foremost traditional rulers who passed on Friday morning.
According to the statement released at the weekend, the postponed matches scheduled to take place in Kano was shifted in honour of the revered monarch.
“The postponement of two Match Day 19 games (Kano Pillars vs Dolphins; El-Kanemi vs Rangers) earlier scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2014 will not affect the Match Day 8 rescheduled game (Kano Pillars vs Bayelsa Utd) on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 which will go on as scheduled,” the statement reads.
Ado Bayero who was former Nigeria ambassador to Senegal died at the age of 83 in the early hours of Friday and was buried in the evening.
The statement also revealed that the remaining Week 19 matches will hold as scheduled for June 7 and June 8 respectively.
