The Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Gusau local government area, Alhaji Abul Mustapha Rijiyar Sarki, has dropped his PDP membership for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with his over 2000 supporters.
Declaring his exit from his party, Mustapha said time has come to face the reality in politics, especially as bunch of crisis, which eventually derailed PDP in
2015 general elections, are still alive and capable of leading to repeat of the bitter experience.
The defectors, who were received by the former state governor, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, represented by the former Chairman of Gusau local government council, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Bagu, assured of their loyalty to the
ruling APC at the state and national levels towards achieving victories in all the general elections come 2019.
“I have discussed with many more popular politicians in PDP across the state who have similar decision and assured me of their preparations for defection to the ruling APC soon. They have decried inability of current leadership of PDP in the state to drive the party to success,” Abul Mustapha announced.
The former PDP Chairman further informed the crowd that he defected to the ruling APC with all his executive members who were accompanied by the multitude number of their supporters from within Gusau and environs, adding that nobody was left behind to work for the opposition PDP from across the state capital.
“Few, out of many reasons, apart from the lingering crisis in PDP that compelled us to join APC, were the construction of roads network executed by the present administration of Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, which made the dreams for having access roads by people across the state a reality, especially at the rural areas across the 14 local government councils of the state,” Alhaji Abul Mustapha revealed.
He further commended the federal government over constructions of military establishments comprising army barracks and Air force Quick response base which served as measures that reduced kidnappings, cattle rustling and armed banditry that bedeviled the state for over a decade.
Speaking, former Zamfara State governor, Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, represented by Ahmad Muhammad Bagu said, the defectors and their supporters, and even those on their way to join the party, will be warmly received by the leadership of the ruling APC soon; and would be given all necessary political recognitions.
