A House of Representatives member, Rep. Binta Bello, PDP Kaltungo/Shongom federal constituency of Gombe state, has donated items worth millions of naira to the people of her constituency, saying that it is part of her constituency projects.
Speaking at the ceremony, the lawmaker stated that, the items provided would help to alleviate the sufferings of the people, according to her, the items will assist both the youths, women and old people to find meaningful ways of living a standard life in the society, adding that the items, if judiciously used, will impact positively on the lives of the people, even as she continues to legislate on matters affecting them at the National Assembly.
Binta explained that democracy was meant to bring development to the people and not hardship; lamenting that the condition of the people is really in a bad state.
She, however, tasked them to avoid anything that would lead to violence in the communities and that they should not be used by politicians to cause trouble in the community.
Earlier, Gombe state governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo urged other lawmakers to emulate her gesture, stressing that the people should make good use of the items provided to them by the lawmaker.
Also speaking, the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal said that Binta has shown commitment in the green chamber and to the people of her constituency ,while urging them to reciprocate the gesture by returning her back to the National Assembly.
Items donated to the people by the lawmaker include one hundred ‘Keke Napep’, two hundred sewing machines, one hundred generators as well as forty irrigation machines; others include the commissioning of Tula community development office as a town hall, for holding of meetings for the people.
