By Umar Muhammad Puma

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sulaimon Lasun, has called on politicians to consider welfare of the people as their top priority.
He stated this at a training and empowerment programme held for youth and women which was organised by him in collaboration with Nigeria Stored Products Research Institute.
Lasun through a statement by his chief press secretary, Wole Oladimeji, said “do politics with fear of God and wait for God’s wonder. If you are pursuing something and you don’t think is to benefit people you will not succeed but if you do it with purpose of benefiting people it come freely”.
He explained that his empowerment programmes is to appreciate efforts of the people that supported him and for them to enjoy dividends of democracy.
He maintained that politics should be a vehicle for welfare and empowerment for the people and their total liberation from economic quagmire.
“Politics without the conscious efforts by political players to empower and liberate the people economically is nothing but a farce.
“I make bold to say that I have never benefitted from the APC more than what I have contributed in the past years.
He urged the electorate to stand by the cause they believe in, adding that with tolerance, doggedness and truth success will come one.
“Always offer your supports for noble cause genuinely and without condition the way I do, obviously the gain will come one day.
“I believe that you can do all these if you are both philosophical and spiritual, because life and religion are philosophical and spiritual, those who are living without these two things are living without significance,” he stated.
