The Plateau Governor and Chairman Northern Governors Forum, Simon Bako Lalong has expressed dismay over the death of Senator Ignatius Longjan who died after a protracted illness.
Until his demise, Senator Longjan was s senator representing Plateau Southern Senatorial Zone in the Senate of the National Assembly.
Governor Lalong, in a statement signed by his media aide, Markut Simon Macham, said “the death of the elder statesman is a huge loss not only to his family and the people of Plateau South Senatorial District but the entire state because of his immense contributions to the development of the state and the nation. we have lost a man of honour and candour who in all his affairs, always put the interests of Plateau State first.
He said His humility, humanity and wealth of wisdom was always at display when he weighed on any issue that concerns people. “We will surely miss him”.
The deceased, who was a career diplomat that reached the Zenith of his political height between 2011-2015 when he served the state as a Deputy Governor also doubles as the Deputy Chairman, senate committee on Culture and Tourism in the current 9th Assembly, a position he left vacant as his lifespan was cut short by a protracted illness.
According to Lalong, Plateau State will continue to remember the senator for playing key role in tackling security issues that marred the state between 2011-2015 when he served as a deputy governor.
While commiserating with his immediate family, the people of Plateau and his colleagues at the National Assembly over his irreplaceable lost, Lalong enjoined the family to take it as a Will of God and pray that God’ll give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
