Sons of All Progressives Congress, APC, National Spokesman, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Lagos State party chairman, Henry Ajomale yesterday emerged winners at the party’s primaries to elect the candidates for the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Also, in Surulere Constituency I, Nollywood actor and Director, Desmond Eliot picked the ticket defeating the incumbent and two-term member of the House, Kabiru Lawal.
However, his colleague in the entertainment industry, Kenny Saint Best lost to Folajimi Mohammed who is the son of the APC National Publicity secretary.
Also, Chief Ajomale’s son, Ladi, defeated an incumbent lawmaker Omowunmi Edet and other contenders to represent APC for Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II in the next election.
The keenly-contested assembly primaries took place in 39 out of the 40 constituencies in the state.
The party suspended the exercise in Kosofe II Constituency based on complaints from some stakeholders. The primary will however hold today (Wednesday).
However, some of the incumbent lawmakers were re-elected while some lost during the primaries.
Lagos APC chairman, Ajomale commended the party members and the security agents for the success of the party’s primaries.
“The exercise was a huge success in 39 constituencies where the primaries took place, except in one constituency where the primary did not hold. It is only one constituency that we have problems out of 40, but tomorrow (today) we will conduct a primary at the constituency,” he said.
